Eines der Diskussionsthemen der mit der Neufassung beauftragten Taskforce ist die "critical information literacy", dieTroy Swanson in seinem Beitrag

wie folgt charakterisiert:
"Critical information literacy provides the opportunity to discuss the power structures behind the information ecosystem, the privilege that some voices have over others, and the existing possibilities to diversify participation in the larger scholarly and civic dialogue."

Fünf der in dem neuen Framework beschriebenen Rahmenbedingungen weisen eine Verbindung zur "critical information literacy" auf. Kritische Einschätzung Swansons zu der Frage, ob "Information as a Human Right" als potentielle Rahmenbedingung eine Bereicherung im Sinne eines neuen Denkansatzes ("threshold concept") darstellte.
