Brian K. Feltman hat die Abteilung Kriegsarchiv des Bayerischen Hauptstaatsarchivs aus Benutzersicht bewertet (August 2007). Auszüge:
"The Kriegsarchiv has a small reading room with places for about sixteen researchers. There is no Internet access and no microfilm reader. There is a small library on site and most of the finding aids are not digitized or searchable. [...]
There is no limit on the number of copies you may order. However, copies are rather expensive at .60 E per page. [...]
The staff of the Kriegsarchiv is very helpful and courteous, but nothing gets done in a hurry here. This is not an archive where a lot may be accomplished in a few days, so plan accordingly. Restricted hours of operation and infrequent checks of pending orders lead to a significant amount of down time. I suggest that you order numerous files at one time so that you have enough material to get you through the gaps in document deliveries. On one occasion, I ordered documents at 2.00 and did not receive them until 11.00 the next day, and only after asking why there was such a delay. [...]
Be sure to ask to look at the finding aids even if the archivists claim that they have no materials relevant to your project. The files at the Kriegsarchiv are not well indexed and often times the archivists simply do not know exactly what the archive holds."

ausgezeichnete Mitarbeiter
